Award-Winning Steel: Phoenix Suns & Phoenix Mercury Headquarters

Next Level Steel is proud to contribute to projects reshaping the Valley, including the new Phoenix Suns & Phoenix Mercury Headquarters and Phoenix Mercury Practice Facility, recently named Best Sports/Entertainment Project by Engineering News-Record’s Southwest Best Projects.

Delivered in partnership with Okland Construction and PK Associates Structural Engineers, this landmark adaptive-reuse project showcases what’s possible when innovative design, precise engineering, and disciplined execution align.

Originally a 1960s warehouse, the building has been transformed into a 123,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art performance campus designed to support elite athletes on and off the court. Serving as the new home of the Phoenix Mercury and advancing the Player 15 Group vision, the facility integrates performance analytics, hydrotherapy, nutrition, film review, and community spaces.

Next Level Steel fabricated and delivered the structural steel package that made this fast-tracked transformation possible. The project required exceptional coordination and precision to meet an accelerated schedule and opened in time for the 2024 WNBA All-Star Weekend—demonstrating how modern construction can extend the life and value of existing structures.

As Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi put it:
“I think we’ve set the bar for what a professional facility should look like, male or female.”
